Ways to Save: Samples and Surveys

These all came in the mail last week, and I thought I’d take a picture to illustrate how a few minutes time can save a few dollars.

I always take a few minutes to fill out my address at a site that offers a sample and coupon for things we like, like the Honey Nut Cheerios and the Burt’s Bees acne sample. I was a little bummed that the Burt’s Bees didn’t have a coupon, but I’m happy to try the sample.

Plus, it’s fun mail. Who wants bills and ads all the time?

And the Star Products “Free” coupons? I was actually surprised that they were real, so I had to share! A few weeks ago, I was visiting Money Saving Mom for current deals and ran across a post for $20 in Star Products (vinegar, olives, olive oil) for completing a survey. I’d never seen a survey offering so much.

Now, I don’t do a lot of surveys, and I don’t do any that get you a just couple dollars, but TWENTY? Even if it took an hour, that would be a good wage, right? I couldn’t pass it up.

When I went to the site, they said it would take 10-15 minutes and normally I wouldn’t have done it, because that’s usually too long for me.

But it was – say it with me – twenty dollars!

And you know what? It took me FOUR MINUTES! I kid you not, I looked at the clock to make sure.

So, I started to think maybe it wasn’t going to be the whole $20, like I didn’t fulfill some part of the deal. Which is why I did a little victory dance when I opened the envelope and found five “free up to $4.00″ coupons off any Star products.

Lets see: 4 minutes = $20 in free quality food products.

Worth it? Oh yea, this is a good way to save!
