Rite Aid Deals

I know this is too late for anyone to do this, but I wanted to illustrate again how combining sales, coupons, and store and manufacturer's rebates can not only save money- it can make money! The key to this is to take advantage of all the savings areas and be open to how they might be used in the future.

For example, the second deal wouldn't have made money if I hadn't taken advantage of Rite Aid's Fall Gift of Savings promotion last October (see this post for how I qualified for it without paying anything after rebates!). I recieved a $20 certificate (which has to be used all at once) in November that I've held onto, waiting for a good time to use it.

Also, a couple of the high-value coupons were expiring on 12/31, so timing is important, too.

Now (or to be more exact, one week ago) was that time. Here's how it worked doing two transactions so I'd have two receipts for the Mail-in-rebates (MIR):

Transaction #1
1 Olay Quench body lotion, $7.49
1 Olay Body wash, $2.89 (BOGO 50% off) -$1/1 body wash mfc + buy wash, get FREE lotion mfc= $1.89 for both
2 Olay Quench body lotions, $7.49 & $3.74 (50% off) -buy lotion, get free (up to $6) lotion= $5.23 for both
total paid= $7.12*

(*MIR #1 = get two $7.49 rebates from Olay for two lotions, so $14.98 back! I made $7.86!)

Transaction #2
4 dark M&Ms, $1.99 ea. -(2) $1/2 IPs =$5.96
1 Christmas DVD, 50% off = $6.49
2 Covergirl lip/eye products, BOGO @ $8.99 -(2) $1/1 mfc = $6.99
2 Olay Regenerist cleansers (BOGO 50% off), $7.99 & $3.99
-(2) $3/1 mfc = $5.98
Tissue paper 50% off = $1.99
total = $27.41 -$20 Fall Gift of Savings Certificate
total paid= $7.41*

(MIR #2 = Olay Regenerist $15 rebate for buying 2, so I made $7.59!)

Total made in both after MIR = $15.45!! On items my family will use, too.
Wha-hoo!

I hope you're encouraged to at least look into shopping the sales with coupons at Rite Aid- they've been the most consistent ways for me to save (and make money, occasionally!) during the last six months with promotions for gift cards and savings certificates along with their regular rebate program.

So I'm sure you've guessed that even during this month's Eating From the Pantry Challenge, I'll still be visiting Rite Aid. :-)
