We just said goodbye to our last Super Bowl guest- I love the excuse to get together, laugh, eat and have fun! I confess I watch mainly for the commercials, though.
And I made a real food onion dip that I think is so much better than the kind made from a packet. I'll have to put up the recipe soon.
Our family's challenge to limit desserts will end this Sunday (Valentine's Day!), which I will celebrate by making a dark chocolate cake, much to the relief of all involved, I'm sure. I'm hoping to continue aiming for desserts at lunch just a few times each week so we don't go back to the idea that it's a vital part of the meal. This should be interesting.
Here's the plan for this week. Remember, you can find previous Winter menus here to help plan for the season.
Monday- Sandwiches (tuna or ham), chips, carrots
Tuesday- Spicy beef (in our case, Elk), tomato and corn stew,* cheese quesadillas, salad with spicy vinaigrette
Wednesday- Slow cooker Vegetable Beef (Elk) & Barley soup,* "bread you can't stop eating" baguettes,* vegetable platter
Thursday- Baked ham, cheesy potato fans,* green beans, salad
Friday- Sub Jee, vegetable plate
Saturday- Homemade Pizza
Sunday- Valentine's "red" dinner: spaghetti, plus chocolate cake
*recipes to come
