Blog Hop '10

Robin at Pensieve is hosting her annual Blog Hop and I thought it would be fun to join in, so here are ten things about me that you may (or may not!) find interesting:
  1. I've never participated in a Blog Hop before.
  2. My favorite color is green. Or purple. Depends on the day, but definitely not blue.
  3. Bananas make me gag and no, it's not a texture issue- I don't like banana anything (bread, cake, etc).
  4. When I was a kid I didn't like strawberries, tomatoes, and onions. Now they are some of my favorite foods. Go figure (and have hope for your kids...).
  5. I was born in Glendale, California. In a "Hospital and Sanitarium." I'll let you guess which.
  6. My first meeting with my husband, Brian, occurred while talking with his girlfriend and left such an impression that he has no memory of it. So much for love at first sight.
  7. I started this blog because I like to share what I know and I'd exhausted all my family and friends. So, in effect, I was just trying to save our relationships. Who knew blogs could be so therapeutic?
  8. I'm one of those people who graduated from a small, (sort of) rural school, moved away to live in the big city and moved back. Now my kids are at the same school.
  9. I teach preschool three days a week- it's my favorite age. These kids make me laugh all the time and give me great stories to share at the dinner table.
  10. My daughter thinks we're weird because we eat dinner at a table every night (except Saturday movie nights when we get to eat watching a movie). This is now an odd thing?
That's my top ten for today. If you hang around here you get a lot more of me, though, plus my successes and failures (it's real here, folks) at organic gardening (home of the Tuesday Garden Party), cooking food from scratch (including pantry basics like chocolate syrup and ketchup), and our decorating and remodeling adventures- all with a DIY and frugal bent.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you become a follower, or subscribe, and you can follow me on Twitter and Facebook, too. And of course, we all love comments...

  1. Jami,
I LOVE your blog and am so glad you do it! I read it every day and learn something all the time. You have encouraged me to expand my garden, bring my sewing machine back out, coupon, and I've spent all summer cooking more from scratch... and have loved all of it! MANY THANKS!
    Sincerely,
    Jenny

  3. HI Jami...oh how interesting...I've always gone to a big schoo..but once on the way to the Oregon coast, we drove through Eddyville...and I took a look at the teny tiny post office that was smaller than my apartment. A friend said he went to school in Eddyville...no joke..and he showed me the yearbook later with the barn, where students could board their horses during school...because going to school on horseback over the mountain was easier/quicker than taking the school bus...Anyway, I enjoyed learning something new about you!!! Have a great weekend. love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

  5. Hey Jami,

I just found your blog (not even sure how I got here now) and I'm loving it. I've already included you as an inspiration on my blog. Maybe it's because you live in Oregon (I'm jealous), but probably it's because you share such great ideas :)

  6. Nice to "meet" you! I want the "cottage mentality" of living simply, loving imperfection, and
making do or doing without. That's my desire but, honestly, I have a long way to go.

I'm also in Oregon (been here for 3 years now).

I enjoyed your list. Here's my blog hop post: This Blog O’ Mine

  7. I agree, preschoolers are adorable. They're exhausting, but they form such attachments, it's impossible not to love them! Thanks for your comment on my blog :)

  12. I used to hate bananas too, until one day I was in the Florida Keys and we stumbled upon a banana tree. Everyone I was with grabbed one and was raving about it. Despite HATING them, I had to give it a try, and discovered I really liked them. I was shocked. However, if they are too ripe, I still can’t eat them.

  13. Jami,
i am the exact same way! I love to share AND talk so blogging has been such a great "fix" for me. I don't even have to leave home, fix my hair or clean my house to be social. It's a win/win situation!
