Happy New Year dear readers!! I hope that you had a wonderful time ringing in the new year. Brian and I are the ones who stay home, watch movies until 12:00, kiss goodnight and are in bed by 12:05.
Or, as our kids would say- old. But it was sure relaxing and easy!
Now I’ve gotta get used to writing 2012…wonder what it will bring?
I know what will be the same as 2011 (and 2010 before that) – making a menu because it helps keep me sane. And we all like that around here.
Plus, we went a bit over the food budget for December, *uh-hem* so we’ll be eating from the pantry as much as possible. And one thing I’ve learned from past “pantry challenges” is that there has to be a plan.
Monday- Rose Bowl Appetizers…GO DUCKS!!!
Tuesday- Slow cooked pork shoulder (got any good recipes?), roasted potatoes and carrots, Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese salad
Wednesday- Gourmet Bean Soup (made with leftover ham bone), Easy Artisan Bread, vegetable plate
Thursday- Spaghetti (made with our frozen Roasted Tomato Sauce), green salad
Friday- Feta-Spinach Frittata-made like this, but with spinach and no sausage, (topped with Addictive Tomato Chutney), Quick and Tender Breadsticks, caramelized onions
Saturday- Pigs-in-a-blanket (Q&T Breadstick dough wrapped around uncured dogs), carrot sticks, oven fries
Sunday- Leftovers & Sunday Tea

I believe a cottage can be anywhere or anything (condo, ranch, farmhouse) as long as you have a "cottage mentality" which puts people above things, celebrates imperfections, embraces simplicity, and finds joy in everyday life. Thanks for joining me!

Oooh, tomato chutney sounds yummy!
