Highlights And The Tuesday Garden Party

tuesday-garden-party-button

Oh my goodness, did I have some fun checking out all the garden link-ups from last week! Not only did I see all the progress on your veggie gardens, I got to ooh and aah over the gorgeous flowers blooming in other parts of the country (that are just budding here…hello, peonys?) and I learned about things I hadn’t even heard of before (making your own fermented soda? Get out!).

This is an awesome place to be on Tuesdays and I thank all of you who post links on FB, tweet or blog about the Tuesday Garden Party so we can have even more gardens to visit and be inspired by!

Here are just four of the links from last week that I thought would be fun to share (oh, the decision was tough, though…):

I loved how Charlie and Jo from Let’s Face The Music titled their post about the tomato cages and bamboo structures they use in their raised bed garden “The Support Team.” Very true, and not only do they work, they make this pretty garden even prettier.

I just wish our two bird houses would be filled will families and babies, while Lady Farmer’s Garden has many more that are – including this four-house “condo” pictured with the birds in it! One day…

Over at Cranky Puppy Farm, they’ve problem-solved in a creative way. Last year their vining veggies were a bit out of control, so this year they’re growing some on a trellis – made easy by bending a large metal fencing panel into an arch. Won’t this look great covered with cukes and squash in a few weeks?

Finally, I was totally inspired by the shady beds around Karen’s house at Away For The Weekend. This shady driveway bed pictured was just a tangle of weeds a few years ago, but working with her neighbor, it is now a beautiful spot that doesn’t even need to be weeded like before. Great job, Karen!

So…what does this last week of May look like in your gardens?

  1. I love all the ideas I get each Tuesday! I have been too busy in the garden to make a post about it, but I am sharing an asparagus sausage skillet recipe. It’s a great way to use asparagus even for people who don’t like asparagus :-)

  2. Thanks for featuring all the hard work Charlie does in the garden. I can be found in a lounge chair sipping iced tea and nicking sugar snap peas while he does the dirty work. You’re inspired by your readers and we’re inspired by YOU! Jo @ Let’s Face the Music

It is exciting to look into the gardens around the world. I was totally in love with the beautiful birdhouse. Cranky Puppy Farm solution for climbing plants was smart. I wish you a wonderful week! Zinnia

I just found your blog, and I love it! I added my garden vignettes post to your party. Thanks for hosting!

Love the idea of the arched trellis! I’ll have to try that in the fall. Our veggie garden sleeps in the summer, save for a few hearty crops. It’s great to see what other folks can grow in the heat!

  6. Thank you for hosting. I love seeing everyone’s beautiful gardens and ideas!

  7. Thanks for hosting, Jami–I also put in a plug for the Garden Party on FB. I agree with you–there were a lot of neat garden ideas last week, and I can’t wait to see the links this week!

Home from over a month in South Carolina! Looking forward to catching up!

  9. I love seeing all the incredible ideas other bloggers share each week! Looking forward to more inspirational reading as I count down the days to the end of school.

  10. Thanks for hosting! I’m sharing an easy hanging flower basket tutorial today; replenishing the soil and replanting is oh-so-much less costly than pay full price for a new basket of flowers! And what an easy way to add some color and appeal to your front porch! I’m off to see what everyone else has been up to… Blessings, ~Lisa @ HappyinDoleValley :)

  11. Thanks for hosting, glad I had had some poppies to share.
