It’s only day 9 of the 31 Days of Thrift Store Transformations and you’ve probably already noticed a trend:
I use a lot of paint.
You’ve probably all heard that it’s the cheapest and easiest way to update rooms – and the same goes for items that have seen better days.
Whether it’s a cutsey painting technique, shiny brass, or simply colors that don’t coordinate, a shot of spray paint or quick brush of acrylic often transforms the item into something you love.
Paint is simple. Paint is cheap. Paint is easy.
Wow. That’s perfect for our cottage mentality, isn’t it?
Here are three past paint projects that upcycled old lamps:
Cheap White and Dated Brass to Antique Bronze
Gold Flecked Glazed Lamps to Classic White Columns (number 15 of the Cottage Ideas)
And you can probably guess that you’ll see more paint transformations before the 31 days is over, can’t you?
This is day 9 in our series (you can click on the button to see all the posts in the category). If you’re wondering what’s up, you can read the introduction to 31 Days of Thrift Store Transformations here. I’m taking a little liberty and using the term “thrift store” to stand for anything you buy used (and cheap!), be it from a store, garage/estate sale, flea market…whatever.

I believe a cottage can be anywhere or anything (condo, ranch, farmhouse) as long as you have a "cottage mentality" which puts people above things, celebrates imperfections, embraces simplicity, and finds joy in everyday life. Thanks for joining me!

Think of all the happy lamps out there that would otherwise be in the landfill, thanks to your great tips! ;0) They are soooo easy to rewire and a huge money-saver as well.
Oh yes, we have rewired some, but I didn’t want to scare anyone off with the whole electrical thing.
Some of my favorites, though, have been saved this way.
How about an article on the old lamps oil/kero used before electricity? Have you wired
any of these? They can be great as well…..Fun to display in a cabin retreat and or the
home…
Paint makes me happy, so you go girl!!! Loving your transformations xox
