The kids and I decorated these ornaments a couple of years ago and they are still one of our favorites. They sparkle and look a lot like store-bought ones. We use them everywhere- on the tree, in bowls, and on greens down the table with candles.
All you need are:
1. Plain ornaments-we used silver, frosted white ones, and a silvery-gold color
2. Fine glitter found at craft stores (they will not look nearly as good with regular, children’s glitter)- we used gold, white, and silver
3. Craft glue with a small tip (like Aleen’s)
-take the top off the ornaments to be able to hold with your fingers
-place glue on ornaments in desired design
-sprinkle glitter on glue over paper
-place the ornament, top-down, in a vase or small cup to dry
In addition to the spiral design above, here are some other designs we came up with:
Round circles. I did the outside circle first, then filled in the center with glue and a white glitter.
Individual spirals. See how they don’t have to be perfect?
I was trying to mimic some vintage balls I had with this one. I used some narrow tape I had and applied it to create a pattern for the glitter. Then I applied the glue where I wanted the silver glitter and sprinkled the glitter before gluing and glittering the center stripe.
This is one of the kids ornaments, and while not a precise as mine, they look fabulous on the tree and decorating the table.
