Reminder: Search and Earn With Swagbucks

Every once in awhile I like to remind you guys about Swagbucks because it really is a way to earn money for doing something you do anyway: search the internet. Seriously.

Here’s how it works:

  1. You sign up with them. They start you with 30 “Swag Bucks” and when you use the code JUNETASTIC (until 6/30) you will get 70 more for a total of 100 Bucks.
  2. Install the toolbar. Really, it’s the easiest way to remember to do your searching through Swagbucks. Plus you’ll get random dollars whenever your toolbar refreshes- bonus!
  3. Start searching using the toolbar. Try to search everyday. I win between 5 and 20 Swag Bucks every time I use them for searching the Internet- sometimes right away or sometimes after looking at a couple of pages.
  4. After you’ve accumulated around 500 Swag Bucks, redeem them through the Swag Store for various things – the Amazon gift card (450 Bucks) is my favorite. I’ve been able to buy lots of things on Amazon with the bucks – from foods like coconut oil and nuts, to gadgets like my Ipad (I accumulated $100 worth of gift cards over a 7-month period to help with the cost of purchasing my Ipad). See what I mean? It really is money for something we all do to some degree or another- and there’s honestly no catch.

If you already use Swagbucks there are two more fun ways for you to get your reward points – through Sunday you can win five collectible Swag Buck bills exclusively through search – get them all before 11:59pm PT on Father’s Day and get an automatic 10 Swag Buck bonus.

Also, on June 20th they’re having a Swag Code Extravaganza, which is an opportunity to get Swag Bucks for nothing. They’re giving away 60 Swag Bucks in codes throughout the day, so get there early and stay throughout the day for more chances to win!

And remember, if you are new to Swagbucks, use the registration code JUNETASTIC  when you sign up- it’s worth an additional 70 Swag Bucks when entered during registration and is good until 11:59pm PT on June 30th.

P.S. If you have a website, you can also refer people to Swagbucks (like I am!) and earn even more Bucks through them!

Sounds like a great way to earn as you explain.
Question is this; since the is a ‘gift’ thing, how would that affect the tax at the end of the year? what do you do? Just want to be safe and not accumilate more then i already have….:) Thx….

Thank you Jami, I did sign up upon your recommendation. I buy a lot through Amazon so ….

I did research it first though, as I am quite leerly about adding things to my computer. Have had learning lessons from doing that in the past.

So far so good. If it works out for me I shall put it out for others to see on my blog; http://erdkinder.blogspot.com/

About the tax worries, correct me if I am wrong, but it would have to be a significant amount to affect taxes.

Also, they did not collect any tax info so at this time it does not seem to me that they are tracking it.

    Jami, your thoughts?

Thank you for your comment, have not heard from Jami as yet. Yes, you are right ‘a significant’ amount….sometimes just a few dollars changes things.
Since they did not collect any imfo. we will ‘assume’
what you bring out…thx once again…..C.N.

Sorry, I was away from the computer over the weekend and missed this question. Ah…taxes, everybody’s favorite subject, huh? :-)

Anything you earn, whether it be babysitting or swagbucks is to be reported as income. It doesn’t matter if it’s $20 or $200 – it also doesn’t matter if there isn’t a 1099 form or anything like that. It’s always up to us to report all our earnings.

And since we are “earning” the bucks by using their search engine, it is income. As to whether it will affect your taxes or not, that depends on your income bracket and whatnot. You should consult a tax person to know for sure I guess.

I certainly have never earned enough to bump us into the next tax bracket and increase our taxes, though, so I’m not too worried. :-) Hope that answers your question!

Also, Kathleen, I just want you to know I’ve had the toolbar installed on my computer for almost two years without problems, so I feel confident in telling others about it. I sure hope you find it helpful as well, so you can start earning to help with the Amazon purchases! :-)

I really don’t take the time to do offers, surveys and such (I think maybe I’ve done them once?), so all my Swag has come from searching and referrals. I average 10 SB each day through searching, so (hypothetically) I earn $5 to Amazon every 45 days (about $50/year) and it takes NO EXTRA TIME. That’s key for me at this point in my life.

It’s easy and what I know. In fact, I’ve never heard of GiftHulk until just now! Sounds like competition, but I’ll stick with SB for now. :-)

    Hi Jami– all good information.
I’ve been swagging for a few years now, I have my tool bar set to swag bucks so it searches there automatically. I use Google Chrome, so if I need to at times I still search Google; because the swag bucks data base is still growing.
I’ve done surveys for swag bucks and I’ve done Key searches, this helps make swag bucks a thorough search engine; by gathering information. It gets better and better.
I also like the fact that by offering referrals to friends they can sign up and when they search you gain points that way when they have others sign they get the same benefits.
My favorite thing to get is Paypal cards where the money goes right into my Paypal… I can spend it online, or have it deposited to my personal checking. ;)
    never had any problems.

    Pat
