Writing Around The Web

Hey there! Just thought I’d pop in and share a short post with some links to a few articles I’ve written recently for other sites:.

You can find a tutorial on how to make the cute Coffee Bean Candle pictured above over at The Happy Housewife. A dear friend gave a version of these to us for Christmas and I thought it was such a good idea that I had to share!

At About One’s In a Nutshell blog, I wrote about something near and dear to my heart: 6 Reasons To Make Family Dinners A Priority. I found some amazing studies that just confirm what I’ve always known- eating together is one of the most important things you can do for your children. So much of our energy seems to go to decisions about schooling, lessons, or activities…let’s make sure we’re not then neglecting the important – and much more simple – family dinner.

Also at About One I outlined the steps I take to Cook and Freeze Dried Beans to Save Money and Time. If you’ve been reading here awhile, you know how I like to have the convenience of beans ready to go into recipes that call for canned beans, and for me that means having them in my freezer.

You know, there was a time when I never cooked dried beans. And even when I decided I needed to use them more, I really only ended up making them a couple times a year (no kidding!) – I just had such a hard time remembering to soak and cook as long as needed. So discovering this technique actually changed the way I cook – and has had a lovely effect on our food budget, too!

Do you have something that you discovered that changed the way you cook?

And I from you, Gina! I just copied your sourdough artisan bread recipe today to try – it looks a lot easier than the one I’ve been using. :-)
